The Price Of Authenticity (1)
THE PRICE OF AUTHENTICITY (1)
The hardest price you pay for becoming your true self is losing people who only liked you for what they stand to gain.
People don’t dislike you because you did something wrong, it's because they can no longer control you.
You become their enemy when you can’t be manipulated.
The moment you stop seeking their approval, stop allowing guilt to dictate your decisions, and start setting boundaries, their attitude toward you may change.
When someone is used to having influence over your choices, your independence can feel like rejection to them.
Your “no” suddenly becomes a disrespect to them.
Your silence becomes arrogance to them.
Your boundaries become selfishness to them.
And your refusal to be controlled can make you look like the problem in their story.
But not everyone who is upset with you deserves an explanation from you.
Learn to stand on your own to protect your peace.
Making decisions without constantly worrying about how others will react is growth.
